Freeview TV Guides
IntroductionThere are several sources of TV guides for Freeview. There are broadly 3 different categories:
EPGsAn EPG is a programme guide that is received by your Freeview receiver and displayed on your TV screen. They are free to receive and use. Most EPGs show 7 days of TV programmes and are updated every day. In theory they should be up to date and be able to accomodate late programme changes, but this is not always the case. TV Guide web sitesThere are many TV guide web sites. They have to pay for the TV guide data, so need to make back this money somehow. Some are subscription sites (you pay a subscription to use them). Some are advertisment funded, making revenue from online adverts on the site. Do a google search for "freeview TV guide" to find some of them. Paper based TV guidesThe traditional paper based guides have not gone away with the introduction of digital. Freeview listings appear in magazines, such as Radio Times, TV Times etc. They also appear in daily newspapers. Obviously you have to pay for paper based TV guides. |
