also exist, but are rare in Europe and the USA.

An enhancement of the VCD standard giving better sound and picture
quality, but still using CDs. This format is also playable on many
DVD players and PCs.

DVDs store high quality audio and video on a disc the size of a CD.
DVDs can be played on DVD players (obviously!) and also on PCs with
a DVD-ROM drive and an appropriate software decoder.

| Digital Video Cassette (DV, DVC) |
Digital Video Cassette is a format commonly used in home digital
camcorders. It stores high quality video and audio in a small
cassette tape.
